I brought this quote to the Sisterhood meeting, because I thought it was funny. We’d had the earlier Hitchcock quotes, and so I’d read a book about the man. He claimed the reason he could write scary movies was because he was a coward. A brave man, he said, would never dream up things terrifying enough to make audiences scream. The sisters all decided we liked Hitchcock better because he had been scared like we were.
